William S. Richards, a farmer of near Port Matilda, died unexpectedly at his home at 4 a.m. yesterday. Mr. Richards, who was about his home as usual several hours before he died, was 68.
Born March 12, 1877 at Martha, the son of David and Sarah Steele Richards, he was married to the former Martha Wagner who survives with the following children, Byron I. of Bedford? [hard to read], Mrs. Reeder Patton of State College, and Mrs. James Sharpe? of York.
Surviving brothers and sister are Samuel and David both of Martha, Newton of Warriors Mark, George of Tyrone, and Mrs. Cora Mayhew of Tyrone RD, in addition to ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was a member of the Martha Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held at the home at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. O. Lee Gordon of Port Matilda and Rev. David A. Sower Jr. of Milesburg officiating. Interment will take place in Williams cemetery in Martha. Friends may call at the home from tomorrow until funeral time. (unnamed newspaper clipping; hand dated May 6 (1945))
